Dave Brewer, Executive Vice President/U.S. Radio

Dave Brewer is one of the lucky ones. Dave knew from the time that he was seven years old that he wanted to be on the radio. He would play "DJ" by announcing introductions to records on his transistor radio. That’s why it was an easy decision, years later, for Dave to choose Central Michigan University because of its strong broadcast curriculum.

After several years in college radio and graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, Dave began his professional radio career in 1975 as a Top 40 announcer in Grand Rapids Michigan. The urge to program was always great, so Dave was thrilled to get his first professional program director position so soon at a 100,000 watt FM station in Ft. Pierce, Fla., in 1976. After several years as an on-air morning man and Program Director in Michigan and Florida, Dave accepted the program director position at the legendary heritage rock station, KATT in Oklahoma City in 1982.

Dave helped the station achieve its highest ratings ever (14.2) during that time. Consultant Jeff Pollack was noticing and in late 1983 at a meeting at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, Jeff asked Dave to join forces with his rapidly growing consultancy. "I thought about it for around two seconds then blurted out yes before Jeff took the offer back. I’ve been here ever since. Jeff told me at the time that not everyone can make the program director to consultant transition, but it worked for me. Working with visionary programmers like Jeff, Tommy Hadges, Pat Welsh and now Jim Kerr, has provided me the most phenomenal experiences a broadcaster could ever hope to have. This career has allowed me work and become friends with exceptional programmers, managers and talent as well as be influential in helping some great radio stations around the globe."

As Executive Vice President, has advised stations in markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, Dallas, St. Louis, San Antonio, New Orleans, Vancouver, Sydney, Auckland, Dublin, Ireland and dozens of others. Dave currently counsels major broadcast companies like Cox, Citadel, Disney, Hearst, Infinity, Journal, MidWest Family, Regent and many others.

Dave has also been influential as one of the seven NAB Programming Steering Committee members for the Philadelphia conference in 2005. Dave also moderated NAB’s Jack Format panel in Philadelphia as well. Dave was a featured speaker at the 2004 San Diego NAB about "Lost Creativity in a Consolidated World." Dave has also regularly spoken at conferences and programming seminars for Cox, Citadel, Midwest Family, Billboard, Album Network and others over the years. Dave has also contributed articles to Radio & Records, FMQB and the Pollack Media Confidential.

Dave was involved in helping direct the worldwide Live 8 concert from the Premiere Network command center in New York City in 2005. Dave has been with the Pollack Media Group since 1983 and he and his wife Julie reside in El Segundo, CA with his daughter Katie and stepdaughters, Kaitlyn and Anna.
